6 Weeks Post Partum

It has now been 6 weeks since I had the little guy! Wow, time flies.  I have been awful about updating my blog. So much has went on this 6 weeks.  I got a spinal headache, had an infection and was really sick for a week and started suffering from postpartum depression. I kind of expected the postpartum depression since I had it with my other two.  I went to the doctor as soon as I started seeing signs instead of waiting like I did with the other two.   I always waited before because I was embarrassed but then I finally realized that it wasn't anything I did.  I always felt bad because I thought it meant I couldn't handle being a new mom or wasn't enjoying it like I should. But none of that is true and I feel sorry for any new mom that has to go through that.  That is why I am going to make a point to be more open about it and talk about it so that if anyone else is going through it will get help right away too and not be embarrassed about it. Also, in this six weeks my oldest boy turned 4 and we had a party for him.  I had my 6 weeks follow up with the doctor this week.  Everything looked good so I can now start exercising!  I started the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.  I decided to do that for 30 to kick off my exercising.  Since the video is only 20 minutes, it is easier to find time to do the work out.   I have been eating Primal and have been feeling great!  I have lost a total of 30 pounds now!  This weight is coming off way faster than it did with my other two.  I got out my non maternity clothes the other day. I was actually able to get them all the way up and buttoned! Still way too tight to actually wear but I was just excited to be able to get them up!
I get so frustrated hearing other people talk about diets.  For example my sister.  She is always dieting and exercising.  Yes, she is thin but it is sad to hear how much she has to go through to be thin.  Like just the other day she was telling me how all she had to eat the whole day was a breakfast bar and one of those frozen dinner things and how she somehow gained 2 pounds.  So, I went on to tell her that I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, a huge salad with chicken on it for lunch and for dinner had a big steak with a huge side of steamed broccoli and lost two pounds.  Oh and did I mention I am NEVER hungry and I feel GREAT!?!?  I am trying to get her to go primal but I try not to push it onto anyone anymore.  She told me she read about the new fad with the "caveman diet" but she said experts say that it's just a fad and it's not healthy because you need grains in your diet.  I cringe when I hear people talk about how great grains are for you.  I feel like telling people that thinks grains are so good for them to stop eating them for a week and record all the changes your body feels and then try to tell me that they are good for you!  I honestly think that nobody could convince me that grains are good for you.

  1. Looking good momma!! Good to hear you share your story about PPD. I had it only with my 2nd and totally got meds...it is a bad place to be when you don't get help. This time around I have been good, it has only been 2 weeks for me so far. I feel good though. I had gone through a lot of life changes at the time of the 2nd delivery too which probably contributed to the PPD. Keep up the good work!!
